APEX FLOW WEB SCRAPER / REFERENCE LIBRARY
What is web scraping?
Web scraping converts content on a web page into data you can store, inspect and reuse. Crawling discovers pages; extraction decides which information to keep.
A useful first collection
Start with one public page and one decision the data will support. A product comparison might need a title, a displayed price, a currency and a source URL. Save the collection time alongside those values: a price without a date is easy to misinterpret.
What a scraper actually does
A collector requests the page, checks the response, parses its document and applies extraction rules. Some pages require JavaScript rendering before the content exists. The output still needs validation; an HTTP 200 response is not evidence that the requested fields were found.
In the Apex engine
Submit a URL to create a durable job. The worker records progress, extracts text or recipe fields, and saves the result locally. JSON preserves structured evidence. CSV is useful for a spreadsheet. Start with render=never for a simple static page; use rendering only when the content needs it.
Worked example
For a catalog card containing <h3>Trail Notebook</h3> and <span class="price">24.00 USD</span>, a recipe selects h3 for title and .price for price. Keep the original price string until you have an explicit normalization rule. Try this pattern in the homepage sample.
